2014, A Belated Lesson
In 2014, my mother-in-law was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and rapidly lost her ability to care for herself.
Two years later in 2016, an insurance friend advised us to review existing policies, leading to the discovery of her TPD (Total Permanent Disability) claim eligibility. In 2017, the payout was approved, providing indispensable financial relief.
By 2018, severe muscle degeneration rendered her unable to swallow, necessitating a nasogastric feeding tube. From that time forward, we purchased 3 cans of Ensure formula every single week for 8 straight years until her passing in June.
Having lived through diagnosis, delayed policy audits, claims, and intensive tube feeding, my wife and I made the resolute decision in 2019 to join the insurance industry to guide other families proactively.
"From 2014 to 2026, caregiving expenses exceeded RM250,000. She passed away peacefully this June. Financial security must be planned ahead, not searched for after disaster hits."
